In today’s world, digital literacy is key to success, but lack of access widens the educational divide between privileged and underprivileged students in India. Share & Care’s Educate 2 Success (E2S) program partners with NGOs like Y4D to bridge this gap by establishing Digital Training and Research Centers (DTRCs) where both teachers and students are trained on computer basics. This DTRC model effectively raises the standard of living by providing access to the online world, while also successfully adapting beneficiaries to the changing digital landscape.
Get to Know Sakshee
Meet Sakshee Munde, a bright and kind 9th-grader at the Madhyamik Vidyalaya Mhalunge (Padale) DTRC lab in Maharashtra! When Sakshee first arrived at the digital lab, she was hesitant to touch the devices, concerned that she would break them. After mentorship and training, she began to explore the devices and learn about the many applications they had to offer like Excel spreadsheets, Powerpoint presentations, and more.
Now, Sakshee is so comfortable working with digital devices that she helps other students do the same! In the future, Sakshee aspires to be a computer engineer and make her village proud, but she is already the pride of her DTRC program where she’s celebrated for her ambition and tenacity.
